Our History

Emswiller, Williams, Noland and Clarke, P.C. has been 72 years in the making. It has seen a growth from 1 to 9 attorneys, nurtured three generations of lawyers, and developed a strong philosophy of providing quality legal services that add value to their clients' legal needs.

In 1937, Byron Emswiller graduated from Indiana Law School (now known as Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis). He eventually went on to plant the seed which would eventually become Emswiller, Williams Noland & Clarke. In 1948, Byron joined forces with Albert Stump and together they practiced law as Stump & Emswiller. Byron Emswiller concentrated in the area of Estate Planning, Probate, and Estate Administration and argued nine times in front of the United States Supreme Court.

Byron was joined by his son, Kent Emswiller, in 1978. For a short time they practiced as Emswiller and Emswiller, until Byron's death in 1980. In 1984, Kent Emswiller partnered with Greg Noland and they made up the small firm of Emswiller and Noland until 1988, when they merged with Steve Williams and Russell Clarke to form Emswiller, Williams, Noland and Clarke, P.C. The next 10 years saw the addition of Olivia Napariu, Bob Saint, Rob Shive, Claire Emswiller and Cassandra Kruse. In 2009, Emswiller, Williams, Noland, and Clarke P.C., is made up of 9 attorneys, practicing in several areas of the law.
